If you missed Dambusters on Channel 4, you can watch it on 4OD until they take it down, which will hopefully be at some point in the distant future! Watch it here.

Clips from Dambusters now on YouTube

I have spent the last year of my life working with an awesome team of people from Windfall Films, Cambridge University and Buffalo Airways to try and recreate the iconic Dambusters raid from World War II. When then faced the even trickier task of trying to make a film out of the hundreds of hours of footage. The film will be broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK on 2nd May and internationally over the coming months. Channel 4 have released a couple of taster clips which were skillfully put together by my producer, Tom Cook, and myself on a …

Watch Ladders Online – in HD

Thank you to everyone who came to the screening of Ladders at the BFI, special thanks to those who laughed. The Q&A afterwards was a bit of a strange experience – I wasn’t entirely sure anybody was really interested in what I had to say about the nature of filmmaking, so I mainly ended up cracking bad jokes. When I started making Ladders I never thought I would end up sitting on a panel with Guy from The Full Monty, but this is an experience I will treasure. For those of you who couldn’t make it, you can now watch …

Ladders at the London Short Film Festival

This January the film I wrote and co-directed with Alistair McMeekin will be showing at the BFI Southbank as part of the London Short Film Festival. ‘Ladders’ will be shown alongside a number of other short films on the subject of growing up and coming-of-age so it promises to be a great afternoon. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director of the festival, Philip Ilson, and some of the filmmakers, including Alistair and myself. I’ll be at the back nodding and trying to look intelligent. Tickets and more information about the event can be found on …

Plinth Broadcast Wins Bronze Student Radio Award

The special edition of Arts Attack which came live from Trafalgar Square last summer came third in the Best Outside Broadcast category at last night’s Student Radio Awards. Fair enough, bronze isn’t the shinest of prizes but seeing as the award was sponsored by Galaxy we were amazed that our arts and culture show even got a mention. And Kate and I got to dress up and attend a swanky awards ceremony at the IndigO2, the highlight of which was Tim Westwood expressing his confusion at being asked to present the award for Best Station Sound (“Think Westwood… Think Station …

Arts Attack – Latitude Special

For a very special edition of Arts Attack, Kate and I headed to Latitude festival in Suffolk where we managed to catch up with Adam Buxton, Kevin Eldon, Josie Long, the School of Life, the RSC and Saddler’s Wells! It’s like the greatest edition of Arts Attack ever, and it was recorded in a field! Have a listen on Mixcloud… Arts Attack – Latitude Special by Roundhouse Radio on Mixcloud

Joe on TV – Product Placement (Arts Attack 03/04/09)

This week I look at Culture Secretary Andy Burnham’s decision to continue the ban on product placement on TV shows made in the UK. I look at some of the most gratuitous examples of brand names sneaking onto our screens, the reaction from the commercial broadcasters and whether product placement is as bad as it seems. Listen using the player above! Arts Attack is the weekly arts and culture show on Roundhouse Radio. Hosted by Kate Lamble, the shows looks at all aspects of culture from books and film to music and TV. If you would like to hear the …

Joe on TV – Danny Cohen Interview (Arts Attack 06/03/09)

Following my feature on last week’s show about the sitcom slump (if I repeat it enough the term will catch on), I speak to Danny Cohen, Controller of BBC Three about how he chooses which new comedies make it onto TV, whether he thinks we’re in a comedy recession and why he is giving Lily Allen a second series. You can listen my piece on The Sitcom Slump here. Arts Attack is the weekly arts and culture show on Roundhouse Radio. Hosted by Kate Lamble, the shows looks at all aspects of culture from books and film to music and …
